There are a few things to consider before getting back on the bike after several months of winter break. This includes a check of the machine, the protective equipment - and of course your own performance.
➖ Technology ➖
✅ Check the battery and whether it is sufficiently filled and charged
✅ Check the level of brake fluid, engine oil and coolant and top up if necessary.
✅ Check the brake discs and pads.
✅Tire check: Check the air pressure, tread depth and age of the tires! If the tires have less than 1.6 mm of tread or are more than six years old, you need to fit new tires.
➖ Equipment ➖
✅ A helmet is mandatory! Before your first ride, you should check the visor for scratches and replace it if necessary.
✅ It is not mandatory, but gloves and protective clothing should be worn in addition to the helmet.
✅ The plastics in protective clothing can become brittle over time due to UV radiation. As a rule, protective clothing should not be used for longer than five to seven years.
✅ It can still be very cold in spring. Warm functional clothing under protective clothing is recommended.
✅ High-contrast clothing makes you more visible to other road users. A safety vest with reflective elements is also a good idea.
➖ Human ➖
✅ After a long break, you need a little time to get used to riding a motorcycle again and get back into your old form - just like with sport.
✅ Do practical riding exercises, braking and evasive maneuvers!
✅ Ride shorter familiarization tours at the beginning, preferably on routes you already know!
✅ Perhaps even take part in driver safety training!
We wish you a safe journey. Get to your destination safe and sound!
